At the recent International Furniture Fair Singapore 2019 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, Commune presented two exciting collections – Volta and Rover which garnered positive response from visitors and design aficionados alike!
A showcase of Commune’s continued evolution and coming-of-age process as a design brand, the Volta collection embodies supreme confidence in the form of harmoniously bold contrasts that express creativity from opposing spectrums.
Incredibly nuanced, design director Julian Koh wanted to use radicalism and rebellion in both a strong yet subtle way. Volta is about mixing rebellion with elegance and downtown cool with uptown class.Rustic walnut wood combines with elegant leater finishes and elements for a surprisingly garage-chic look, proving that even the most industrial of looks can be refined. With Volta, you can embrace both the light and the dark sides – your home can look elegant yet rebellious at the same time.
Riding the wave of equestrian chic revival within fashion, Commune is applying this trend to home furnishings as well via their Rover collection. Designed to be a glamorous reminder of the world of the leisure class, with its strong traditions of hunting, horse racing, country club visits and exotic travel, this colelction features clean and dignified lines portraying a timelessly classic and stately feel.
The rustic-modern collection utilises hints of dark tropical wood, vintage-inspired leather, traditional British tweed, wire grills and brass caps. According to design director Julian Koh, “The traditional, rich, dark and warm colour palette captures the flavour of owning a heritage, laidback country home with a romantically nostalgic appeal of the equestrian chic.”
