Cozy Is As Cozy Does.

14th December 2011,

While design is subjective, good interior design is not. Unless you’ve been trained as an interior designer or was simply born with the innate instinct to recognize design, flipping through pages of a magazine can only bring about inspiration, but not application. Our visual cortex are wired to focus on big objects—like feature walls, sofas, dining table, counters, etc.—rather than the small details that give a living space its characteristic. Big furniture are, of course, important, but so are the pillows that lay on your couch that makes it cozy; just like the apron hanging by the doorway of your kitchen that makes it feel like home; or the intricate patterns of the curtains hanging in your bedroom that set the mood.

YOURS, HIS, HERS, MUM’S, DAD’S, MINE’S…
During big family gatherings, take out differently designed placemats for each individual. While charming up your dining set, the analogous but dissimilar patterns will have your guests thinking you customized each seat just for them.

Home’s Harmony started operation in 1997 and has since expanded to 13 retail outlets across Malaysia. With its flagship outlet situated in One Utama Shopping Center spanning across 13,000 sq. ft., the store offers a wide selection of all the little things to make your home and bath simply yours. Their products are specially selected for the Malaysian market, consisting of the finest designer goods from overseas. Along with their international labels, Home’s Harmony also manufactures their own brands: Louis Casa, Jean Perry, Sarah Miller, Cotonsoft, Genova Letto, Novelle, and Diana Home. Aimed to provide the many ethnicities, cultures, traditions and concepts that influence the multitude walks of life that make up Malaysia, Home’s Harmony stocks patterns varying from faux animal prints to embroidered floral, from modernistic matte finish to vintage to sleek shine.

This humble chain of home furnishing goods prioritized on being ‘inviting’ and ‘cozy’. Stepping into any one of their thirteen outlets, immediately grabbing your attention is the echoing sounds of their floor staff—friendly, helpful and professional. Home’s Harmony did not plan to be aesthetically appealing, but rather functional and homely; hence, the company’s name. Upon entrance, the window display allows consumers to visualize what they can do with the latest products they have. Furthermore, everything is organized and in their appropriate sections. For a retail store that provides a wide range of curtains and accessories, carpets and rugs, beddings, bath goods, tableware and cushions, etc., it is crucial that the floor flow is simple. And it is exactly that—simple, but packed with enough varieties to keep one browsing for hours and walking away with trolleys full of the little things that make a home, a home.
