Doodles Unleashed By Traci Bautista

Doodle, draw, paint and play! That is what traci bautista hopes Doodles Unleashed will inspire readers to do. The creative book encourages readers to create their unique marks and develop their own signature styles of drawing and lettering.

Besides sharing her techniques on painting her signature ‘girlie glam’ faces, Traci also shows her readers how doodling can be created with multiple layers of mediums, and not just with a pen and paper. She also provides step-by-step projects and jumpstart to urge her readers to try on their own.

1. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO COMPILE DOODLES UNLEASHED AND WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO GENERATE WITH YOUR READERS? 
I really want to inspire people to create with freedom and PLAY; to get back to the childlike spirit of creativity when they are creating art.

2. YOU WERE A SUCCESSFUL ART DIRECTOR BEFORE BECOMING A FULL-TIME ARTIST, WHAT MADE YOU TAKE THE LEAP? 
I had a very stable, high paying CORPORATE job with full benefits, what most would say the “ideal” career. But I found myself questioning what I was doing in an office, wearing business suits, sitting in meetings all day and working in a job that I wasn’t passionate about. In 2001, I decided to quit my job with no real plan of action and took the leap into a full-time art career. I became a children’s traveling art teacher, taking any art teaching job I could. When I walked through the doors and saw kids’ bright smiles and heard their laughter, as they would say, “Ms. Bautista’s here, we get to make art!” I knew I had finally found my calling.

3. HOW CAN PERSONAL DESIGNS SUCH AS YOURS IMPACT AN OVERALL INTERIOR OF A HOME, DO YOU FEEL?
I think it’s very important to create a home that is filled with personal treasures and artwork. My personal style and design reflects the bold, bright and layered look of my paintings and handmade journals. It brings a colorful flavor to the interior of a home. My artwork brightens up a room and inspires creativity.
