Enjoy a fine dining experience minus the formalities at Madisons, the latest addition to the Bangkung row of restaurants.
Having just opened in May last year, Madisons is the new kid on the block at Jalan Bangkung. At first look, the interior exudes a rustic feel which boasts the same stylish yet comfortable decor as its neighbours but upon closer inspection, patrons will notice that Madisons has its own distinct personality.
Spearheaded by Chef Kelly Delaney, Madisons is named after her daughter and some Australian influence can be seen in the menu as Chef Kelly most recently helmed the kitchen at Adelaide’s award-winning Auge Italian restaurant.
At Madisons, patrons can taste wine prior to ordering, something usually offered only in finer dining establishments. This is because Madisons aims to provide a fine dining experience minus the formalities and the whole idea is to offer high level service in a laidback environment where patrons can dine at the bar if they wanted to.
A lounge area in the centre of the restaurant provides patrons with a place to have a pre-dinner drink. “It can be awkward when you’re the first to arrive out of a party of ten, so we created this space to eliminate those uncomfortable moments,” says Chef Kelly and adds, “It’s also a great spot to enjoy some tea and coffee at the end of the night.”
Food wise, Madisons can be described as Modern European but Chef Kelly is a little more adventurous as she deconstructs food and experiments with the presentation. It is also interesting to note that they make their ingredients such as pastas and macarons in house. “Anything that we can make in house, we make,” says Chef Kelly.
Should you be wondering what to order then you can start off with the Tufted Duck and Chicken Liver Parfait with Chianti Jelly and Baby Pears and move on to the Pork Loin, Braised Beef Cheek or Pork Risotto for mains and nibble on some macarons for dessert.
