Take some inspiration from this brilliant showroom for ideas on creating a luxurious home.

Luxurious homes are the dream of many. In the course of my work, I’ve often come across luxurious homes. Even in photos, these homes have never failed to leave me in awe. I simply enjoy marvelling at their grandiose style.

It was the same feeling that I had when I entered the new NOVEL showroom in Viva Mall. What set NOVEL apart from the others are the classy products and, of course, the inspiring showroom itself. Most furniture showrooms tend to crowd their places with so many displays until there is no room to move around, let alone choose.

Not NOVEL though; everything is laid out like the setting of a home and in matching sets too, thus providing inspiration and ideas for you. The neat arrangement of the furniture also helps to highlight the pieces; now you can clearly see and feel the products. Try them, too, if you want to.

Once in the showroom, you will feel that you are inside a luxurious home. The size of the showroom may be slightly bigger than other shops but it’s still not extravagantly large like some luxurious homes.

You may think that only large houses can afford such luxuriously designed interiors. Yes, size and budget do play a part but how many times have we seen large houses decorated in a not-so flattering manner? The term “luxurious” can mean lavish design or minimalism; the most important thing is the result has to be elegant and classy. Fret not, if you have a smaller home or limited budget; you can still have a luxurious-looking home.

A luxurious house is one that looks spacious. The layout of the furniture is important to keep the room always looking spacious and not crowded.

• Selection of furniture is important in contributing to a splendour look. Choose furniture with luxurious and classy design; for example, a coffee table with a glossy finishes will give your living room a sparkling effect.

• Avoid the cookie-cutter or conventional headboard. Glam up your bedroom with an oversized tufted headboard and frame your bed.

• Create a focal wall, be it in the living space or your bedroom. Dining room is also a great place as this is where guests will usually gather. You can paint the wall with a striking colour, install wallpapers with bold pattern or metallic accents. An exquisite painting will do just fine to show off your fine taste.

• Place selected decorative pieces is some corner of the houses. They can be in the form of painting, ornamental plants, sculpture and crystal vase.
