Refreshing Soft Water
19 November 2011,
Can water be softened? Absolutely!
When Coway launched its Spa Water Softener and asked us to sample a 14-day trial, we were overwhelmed by curiosity: Just how do you soften water? And does it make a difference?
The answer is yes to both – you can soften water and it makes a heap of a difference.
How it works:
The Ion Exchange Resin in the water softener removes substances in water that cause hardness while a composite filter removes chlorine, germs and other floating bacteria from tap water. According to Coway, “Soft water molecules are more easily absorbed and retained by our skin cells, allowing for a smoother, softer and cleaner showering experience.”
What does this actually mean? Well, in layman’s term, it means that soft water is good for our overall pores. I installed this device in the bathroom of my parents’ room because they are more sensitive to climatic changes of our tap than I am. My father was the first to shower, and came out exclaiming that his hair felt softer and less oily. My mom, who often complains that the water in our home can be harsh and cause dryness, was pleased with the improved quality of her skin condition after showering with Coway’s Spa Water Softener for a few days. As for me and my siblings, the experience has been mutual with our parents. It’s not a surprise that, during the two-week trial, the most favored room to shower in was my parents’.
The Coway’s Spa Water Softener has a slim and compact design. Upon installation, we were all worried about having the standing model on the bathroom floor – as wetness is a norm. However, the technician assured us that the water will not affect its performance. And true enough … it didn’t cause a single inconvenience to us or present to have an issue with the dampness. Sadly, our trial has expired and we’re now back to our olden ways, though we are now in serious talk about investing in one for our own perusal. It’s truly showering with a difference.
