Beatrice Looi:Infusing Contemporary Designs and Space into a heaven

Spearheading courageously in the fashion industry while juggling motherhood, Beatrice Looi reveals her interior design skills to create a relaxing ambience for all in the family.

The home is a place to feel comfortable, a safe haven to relax and unwind after a day’s work, says Beatrice Looi – a fashion designer who has influenced the shaping of the Malaysian fashion industry for more than 18 years.

Holding firm to her believe that one should be courageous to express their own taste, Beatrice says that she took the courage to shop for wallpapers and furniture’s for her new home. The spacious three-story home set among luscious hills and greenery is refined with rich elements of brown and beige that blends harmoniously with wall trimmings. Homing into contemporary, simple and spacious designs, furnishing is handpicked from various shops and put together to enrich the look and feel of the home.

Beatrice passion for Victorian design is evident with two large mirrors in the living area. The ambience of the room is elevated further with rare collectibles neatly arranged on a wooden wall rack. Wallpapers – something that Beatrice had admired since her younger days is used to create a centre piece in each room.

Apart from the living room, the master bedroom is defined with wallpapers in a black and gold hue, while the children’s room uses a subtle tone of mixed floral prints suitable for an adolescent and sea blue denoting robust energy yet calmness in spirit for the younger gentlemen of the home. Though decoration is minimal due to time constrain and shifting, lovely angels in painted molded clay can be seen along the stairway and the living room. The home certainly demonstrates Beatrice free spirit, elegant and demureness.

A designer born in a family that has been in the garment business, Beatrice Looi is able to experience with different kinds of fabrics and accessories. Armed with knowledge and passion for designing, Beatrice does not dictate herself to one special style or fabric but chooses to work with whatever sources that is in the market. Playing a vital role in the fashion industry since she started, Beatrice has tried her hands in wedding gowns, clothes for mums of brides to be, flower girls and endless cocktail dresses to suit various occasions. Similar to the brand, she has a light and soft outlook, at the same time strong and firm position towards her designs. Firm in her believe of never compromising on quality, Beatrice’s creation of painstaking craftsmanship includes hand-stitched beads, crystals, hooks and nooks that are cultured in the brand.

Beatrice has been featured on air by various media groups including CNN, Guang Ming, China Press, Nona (TV3), Fashion TV, Eve’s Diary (8TV), Wa Lai Toi (Astro), rfm988 radio interview, MYFM 101.8 radio and Phoenix Chinese Channel among many others. In 2006, Beatrice was the spokesperson and judge for Clarins Skin Renew Program and the Jury for Miss Drs. Seager. She also showcased her fashion at MODA Unity, KL Fashion Week, Premier Wedding Launch, My Wedding Bridal Fair, Malaysia Top 10 Bridal Gown Designer Showcase and Fashion Elevation.

In 2005, Beatrice participated in Nyonya Kebaya Splendor Charity Gala Dinner, World Boutique Hong Kong, The Star KL Fashion Week, Park Royal Bridal Fair, Female & NuYou Bridal Extravaganza. She also sponsored the Red Cushion Night Charity Show in Aid of Abused Victims.
