Taipei:Great Heights Of Simplicity
With a large space left to creative mercy, a lot can be done to fully maximize design.
Back in the 1960’s, the loft apartments which are apartments that are generally built from former industrial buildings were a great hit. Even more so when avant-garde filmmaker and pop art creator Andy Warhol created his famous New York City studio out of an industrial loft. Fast forward to today and we still find many urbanities living in replicas of smaller versions of these warehouse lofts in the city, mostly those who are involved in the creative field such as artistes, designers or the fun loving singles.
A loft indeed is a blank palette to create and design however the imagination wills it to, as it is after all a vast space. In this particular Taipei residence, less is definitely more. The need for furniture is minimal, hence only the bare necessities are needed. So while the styles of fittings are towards minimalist, the colors make up for the barren appearance. Clear as a bell the homeowners here enjoys a good read as the bookshelf takes up almost an entire wall, putting on display an array of thick colorful books. Scattered throughout the living area are pillows on the wide clean floor.
The bedroom and bathroom areas are raised by a platform, making a distinct division from the rest of the space. We assume the owners here enjoy spending time in bed at nights as the bedroom and the living hall is separated by a wooden partition, easily opened at any time at all to just laze in bed while watching television on the wall at the end of the living space. Ultimate comfort made easiest.
