Hong Kong: Grand Guise
28 June 2010,
Truly elegant design incorporates top-notch functionality into a simple, uncluttered form.
Van Day Truex, the man who defined twentieth-century interior designing taste and style once said “Interiors speak. Rooms emphasize whether one exists or lives, and there is a great difference between the two.”
The newly opened Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees that stands grandiose in Kowloon, Hong Kong is devoted to provide the ultimate unique Hong Kong hotel experience. Although we do advise you to refrain from walking into the lobby after a large amount of alcohol consumption, we believe the act of trying to stand still on your two feet will be gravely impossible. Built to amaze (or confuse) its patrons, the stunning lobby offers a spectacular show of visual stimulations, almost as if Tim Burton has had his two cents dabbled in the interior ideas.
The abstract asymmetrical architecture runs deep in the surroundings. Beginning from the reception counters to the furniture pieces that create the illusion as though the entire floor is sloping downwards.
A variation of horizontal and diagonal lines are found strewn across every surface imaginable, no space is left to the mercy of texture. If you find your head spinning from the overwhelming inconsistency of patterns, take comfort in the grand luminescent chandeliers, at least this piece of fitting stays stagnant in design.
Located along the Kowloon waterfront, providing a thankfully calm and breathtaking view of Hong Kong’s famous skyline, the rooms and serviced suites offers guests a preferred soothing impermanent stay where cool hues and motionless designs reside, a vast difference compared to the lobby and restaurants.
