Looking Through The Glass
16 July 2010,
If you were wondering how a fish feels in an aquarium, this would be the closest that you can get.
Many have claimed that their designs are the perfect description of simplicity, unless you strip down as much as founder Carlo Santambrogio and designer Ennio Arosio of Milan along with their studio called Santambrogiomilano, located in London – then you have not seen simplicity in its purest form.
This glass house is placed amongst the placid oceanic surroundings, often times when designers make an attempt to create a design that is nestled amongst nature, it is a challenge most people would only dream of attempting. The essential element for such a concept would be the material. This glass house is from a collection called ‘Simplicity’, which uses an extra-clear glass by Saint Gobain, tempered and stratified, named Diamant with minimal usage of metal fixings. They are a French multinational corporation founded in 1665, a manufacturer of superior quality glass items.
The usage of glass as a structural component would normally come across as cold and uninviting. But that would only be a bad design. For glass to look great is when it is seamlessly applied to the surroundings and becomes one with the environment.
