Running With Reebok Crosswalk
12 December 2010,
Maybe you’ve seen him somewhere but can’t quite place your finger on it. A familiar face to Chinese viewers, Owen Yap Khiam Hong, 35, anchors the Mandarin news for 8tv on weekends and was also the host for the second season of Deal or no Deal’s Mandarin version on ntv7. Having won the Golden Award for current affairs news anchor – Owen graces many other forms of media because of his fun and friendly nature including event hosts, spokesperson and more. Despite his busy schedule, he still has the time to keep in shape.
Like many, Owen Yap believes that healthy and happiness is two that comes hand in hand. “I am a firm believer of a healthy daily routine, no matter how busy or packed my schedule is. I make sure that I get at least 7 – 8 hours of sleep everyday and begin my day with a hearty breakfast. Lunch and dinner I can skip, but never skip breakfast.” Someone once told him that health represents the number 1 – hence the most important. Trailing behind the number 1 is the number 0 which represents the other things in life such as wealth and fame. Naturally, without the main number 1, the rest of the 0 won’t follow, basically meaning without good health, attaining the wealth and the fame will not be possible. So if we take the digit 1 million, the 1 still represents health and the remaining zeros will represent money, fame, popularity and others.
Owen’s daily schedule requires him to run around quite a bit, meeting with clients, hosting events, conducting interviews and anchoring the news – “I spend most of my time in the car too as I live in Seremban and traveling back and forth takes up a lot of time,” explains Owen. So one wonders, with such a hectic routine, just how does Owen manage to maintain a healthy lifestyle?
With the help of the Reebok Crosswalk V7, Owen has no problem maintaining his buff bod. “I’m not really a gym goer as I just don’t have the time for that, so I use the treadmill at home! I’m a very easy to sweat so I plan it out as such – if I have a morning shoot, I’ll first take a run for 30-40 minutes then only jump into the shower. I’ll also go for another half an hour before bedtime as the perspiration drains the stress of the day and allows me to sleep better at night,” exclaims Owen.
Owen has always been an outdoors kind of guy – preferring to run in the park in the mornings but because of inevitable security issues, he and his family now finds comfort in exercising in the comfort of their own home. The Reebok Crosswalk V7 has up to 10 miles per hour (10MPH) the exact QuickStep speed control where the speed is adjustable and is also compatible with the iPod or MP3 player, enabling an enjoying exercise routine while listening to their favorite tunes.
The Reebok Crosswalk V7 has a safety key function that can be activated if one feels dizzy or tired after running for too long. Simply pull on the key and the running belt will slowly come to a stop to avoid any accidents – now how cool is that? It’s certainly safe for the whole family to use! Another useful function is the DMX Zone Cushioning which reduces impact on your joints by up to 28%, as compared to road running. With this superior absorption system that delivers the perfect balance of exercise comfort and joint protection.
Owen places a lot of importance on running. For the health of his function and respiratory muscles, increase his lung capacity, tightens his muscles and allows the heart to reach it full healthy capacity. “I really don’t go out much, with the exception of work. So when I stay home and see the Reebok Crosswalk V7 in my living room, it just makes me want to hop on it and start exercising.”
