All That Glitters Is Silver

30th December 2011,

Having a germ-free mattress is not just for those suffering from allergy; a clean sleeping environment contributes to a peaceful sleep as well.

Silver was the preferred treatment for medical ailment for more than a century because of its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Utilizing the same properties of silver, Dunlopillo has developed the Talasilver Latex, which offers advance protection from microbes when you sleep.

This is not the first product from Dunlopillo that offers protection from germs. Dunlopillo was the company that first introduced latex foam in 1931, which was scientifically proven to be a hygienic filling for mattresses.

Talasilver Latex incorporates Nano Silver Technology, a group of micro-sized bits of silver that is invisible to the human eye, yet proven and tested to eliminate and prevent bacteria.

And why would we want our mattresses to be anti-bacterial? Well, consider this: when we sleep, we shed our old skin cell and hair. Of course, this happens too while we are awake but when we sleep, these old cells are left behind on our mattresses. Add these with our perspiration, saliva and discharge of other bodily fluids and you have an atmosphere that is warm, humid and rich in decaying organic matter – a conducive environment for harmful bacteria and fungal!

Airing your mattress and changing the bed sheet is not enough to get rid of these harmful microbes; these bacteria harbor deep inside the mattress. As they say, prevention is better than cure; getting an anti-bacterial mattress will help in keeping your sleeping environment clean.
