01 August 2013,
Get ready for colourful curtains and blinds. The trends in textiles for 2013 feature shades and prints so bright and beautiful, you’d probably need sunglasses to visually take them all in! In this article, Curtains Place Managing Director Jason Low talks about styling homes with colourful furnishing.
I’ve recently caught up with some of my favourite textile companies (definitely, one of the perks of my job) and I’ve discovered the one common thread of 2013’s textile trends is colour and pattern. For this season, it’s all about colour with bold patterns, metallics, geometric designs, and botanical prints in the spotlight. Right now the 1960-1970s’ retro-inspired styles are very much in vogue.
Of course, it is not only fashion that benefits from a splash of colour. Dressing your windows with a bold choice of colour can liven up the whole room. Now I’m not sure how ready we are in Malaysia for this, but while you can throw caution to the wind when using bold colours, you should also think about how easy it is to make a room look ‘styled’ when you make a statement with colourful curtains and blinds.
In terms of soft furnishing and window dressing, pattern, colour, and the overall fabric design of curtains have a major influence on the mood of your room. Matching or coordinating cushions and roman blinds with curtains are high on the trend list for 2013. For instance, S Fold tracks and curtains can be employed to create a stunning and subtle flowing impression. While using colours is relatively easy, if there is a certain look that you would like to achieve with colours, but do not know how, or have little confidence in doing it right, our qualified decorators at Curtains Place can advise you on every detail of furnishing your windows to achieve the desired look you’re after.
