The Charm Of Modern Tropical
30 April 2011,
Mixing natural and modern elements, an interesting interpretation of the tropical theme is achieved.

With a neon sign bearing the name and number of the house, one will naturally assume that this is no ordinary residence. The exterior reflects the tropical theme with the use of natural materials such as wood, stone and greenery. Perhaps as a reminiscence of the owner’s hometown, the verandah next to the pool is built to resemble a traditional Malay kampong house, giving the surrounding area a tropical charm.
Inside, the tropical theme continues with a cross of futuristic design in the form of concealed ceiling lights, particularly impressive is the one in the dining area. The light shines down on an elegant dining set comprising a Raintree table with teak cushion chairs. Interestingly, some parts of the walls of the house is hand-painted by a local artist.
Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the space upstairs is the impressive master bedroom occupying the second floor. The bed and the bathroom areas are separated by the stairs edged with horizontal straight lines made with wood. It creates a divider for the space yet at the same time, its open-concept design provides an open view between the two areas.
