Sleep Naturally

11 February 2011,

Sleeping is indeed an indulging luxury that we enjoy; hence a mattress is of utmost importance. But what do we need to focus on when purchasing a mattress? Is it the thickness of the mattress, or perhaps the warranty that comes with it? For vincent k l tan, managing director of getha, he places his priority in a high-quality mattress for that good quality sleep.

It’s been proven that people sleep about one-third of their lives, and that sleep is a heightened anabolic state, accentuating the growth and rejuvenation of the immune, nervous, skeletal and muscular systems. It is observed in all mammals, all birds, and many reptiles, amphibians, and fish. And although sleeping only requires you to lie down with your eyes closed, good sleep is often harder to achieve as it depends on the lifestyle and eating habits that we have. If we’re not careful, losing out on quality sleep can affect our body and mind more seriously than we give credit for.

The charm of natural latex
Since the early 90’s, the rubber industry has emerged as an integral part of Malaysia’s rubber industry, and it was then that Vincent Tan learnt about the advantages of latex and was determined to create a local super brand, holding onto the philosophy to manufacture high quality products that will carry the Malaysian name across the world – hence Getha was born.

During the time, companies were still using spring to manufacture their mattresses and it was tough trying to change people’s perceptions overnight. However this did not deter Vincent from his ambition as he spent years studying about a variation of high technology machines from Germany that is able to improve product quality so that the mattresses will meet international standards.

After that, Vincent proceeded to plan on different advertising strategies to build the GETHA brand before lauching it into the market in 2002, complete with its uniquely innovative product packaging. Getha’s wise choice for manufacturing their mattresses with latex is not only environmentally friendly, but its design is to prioritize the right body posture for a secure and comfortable sleep.

The birth of a revolutionary mattress
On the top of Vincent’s list was not the thickness of the mattresses nor the length or warranty, instead the quality of the fabric used. He firmly believes in offering his customers a product that serves its maximum duty unlike some others who place the product’s importance on lesser values. Once there is a solid concept behind the manufacturing of the product, then his customers can have a truly comfortable mattress to sleep on.

Silver has been used for thousands of years, not only to create delicate trinkets but it is also a natural sterilization agent. The new age Nano Silver has been recently recognized widely for its efficiency thus was also used in other home appliances, medicine, cosmetics and industries – greatly improving and enhancing the quality of life. Vincent then ventured on to Korea to learn more about the Nano Silver and its benefits. With precise and thorough R&D, the Nano-Silver technology was finally added into the mattresses for the consumers benefit. With the presence of the Nano Silver, many forms of bacteria were able to be eliminated quickly to ensure the health of the mattress, protecting consumers even while they sleep.

Through the efforts, the product was finally complete and during Vincent’s frequent return flights back from Unites States, he came up with the name TRANSFORME, and was introduced to the market in September 2007.

The growth of TRANSFORM 360°
After three years and three months of effort, TRANSFORME has improved again by bringing the Getha brand to another milestone by launching the new TRANSFORME 360°. One of the most prominent TRANSFORME 360° features is its Nano-Silver technology, which is able to eliminate germs in than 2 minutes, leaving the mattress’ antibacterial free rate at 99.9%. This ensures a long-term safe and healthy mattress and parents no longer need to fret about their children’s health by notorious bacterial infections. In addition, the surface of the TRANSFORME 360° textile is embedded with bamboo charcoal yarns to provide direct contact to the body, reducing the body’s electricity more quickly and efficiently promotes sleep quality.

The series superbly adopts the latest technology to knit its yarns with uniquely coated latex threads onto the surface of the textile, giving the entire mattress a truly all-round latex feel. The Getha latex block is designed with honeycomb-like ventilation holes to ensure proper flow of air while sleep, helping the body breathe easily, thus reducing motion disturbance. A good ventilating mattress not only provides relaxing sleep, but will prevent allergies.

In order to ensure originality, Vincent had specially constructed an environmentally friendly packaging for the mattress that comes with a dial lock with a pre-set password that can be found in a book when the mattress is purchased. This way Getha is able to assure their consumers that the TRANSFORME 360° will get only the genuine mattress and will be able to sleep better knowing that.

Getha aims to please all their consumers with different needs; hence there are six different types of the TRANSFORME 360° so consumers can choose their own personal comfort level. The softer Plush Feel has the Natural Latex, Pocket Spring and Spring Power series whereas the firmer Firm Feel consists of the Natural Latex, Natural Fibre and Harmony series.

Optimizing quality and originality, Vincent has been continuing to improve, innovate and establish a credible brand for the past 8 years – taking into account every little detail to better Getha products and service so that each mattress possesses its own Getha soul and charm.
