This bungalow is imbued with classical and modern details, encapsulated in the uncomplicated lines of modern design.
Q1 Interior Concept Sdn Bhd ingeniously designed this generously sized modern bungalow with a faithful rendition of classical details alongside aged, whitewashed, or lightly treated varieties of wood. The foyer provides hints of the décor to follow by presenting an assortment of provincial elements, distributed evenly over a modern interpretation of a console table.
The ceiling above the seating lounge displays fluted cornice mouldings of classical tradition, albeit composed in the strict lines of modern taste. The adjacent dining space presents an array of wood in various qualities – the same shade of dark wood seen in the seating lounge’s coffee table is utilised in the composition of dining chairs and table legs, while lightly treated planks dress the ceiling with their disparate shades held in close proximity. A flight of wooden steps enables the ascent to the upper levels from behind the feature wall of the seating lounge, effectively demonstrating how a decorative feature can be made to simultaneously serve a practical purpose.
The majority of the residents’ bedrooms retain only a fraction of the previously observed classical details, relying instead on the conventional lines of modern design to form bedside surfaces, workspaces – and in the case of one particular child’s bedroom, a unique platform for the bed.
