Pavilion Kuala Lumpur has celebrated another milestone with its brand new, one of a kind retail concept, Tokyo Street. Situated on Level 6 in the world-class shopping destination, Tokyo Street will offer shoppers a 360-degree retail experience, presenting a vibrant mix of Japanese F&B, retail and services brands. The design is inspired by Asakusa, a district in Tokyo that blends the urban cosmopolite feel with the rich heritage and traditions of Japan. To date, Tokyo Street is 95% occupied with over 60% brands debuting for the first time in Malaysia. Tokyo Street is scheduled to open in July 2011.

LG Electronics (LG) will be unveiling its first all-in-one PC which will feature the innovative Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR) display, found in its popular CINEMA 3D TVs. The LG V300, developed in partnership with Intel, will be unveiled at Computex 2011, Asia’s largest IT exhibition, in Taipei from May 31 to June 4.

The LG V300 will come with an impressive list of features including 2nd Generation Intel Core processors, 3D FPR display, In Plane Switch (IPS) screen technology that creates a stunning 178-degree viewing angle and a triple camera system for superb multi-touch capability.

The Brazilian designers Carolina Armellini and Paulo Biacchi created the R540 as a new concept of bench for the Fetiche Home Design´s furniture collection that is available in orange red, pink and purple, green and purple, black, white and translucent. The bench is developed with the weft of threads as a “connecting dots” game.

“We developed a contemporary product, but with a strong emotional interaction. These kinds of threads were part of our childhood in the garden seats of the interior of Brazil. This nostalgic reference is evident in this product”

The continuation of the Batik corner in MF3 is definitely something we can look forwards to. Vice President Wong Thian Choy and President Edmond Chew of KLSFEA say: “Batik has always been a part of the Malaysian culture. As part of the association’s aim of encouraging innovation, last year we included Batik as part of the exhibition. Due to the good feedback, we have decided to include it again this year, working together with famous designer Karl Ng in setting up the Batik corner to display Batik-style furniture.”

They added, “Malaysia’s furniture export ranks ninth worldwide and is favoured by many globally. Yet, not many local people know about this. There was a case where a man ordered a batch of furniture from abroad back to Malaysia, only to discover that they were local-made and he ended spending three times more for what he would have paid locally.”

To promote the local furniture industry and to make it trendy and appealing to the younger generation, the organizers also held a Batik-theme furniture design competition for students. The competition is divided into three categories – the living room, dining room and bedroom. Each category will have three winners and they will have a chance to re-create their designs and display them at next year’s show.

MF3 also received a strong support from the Malaysia Tourism Board, appearing in its official website, where it is being highlighted as one of the shopping events in Malaysia.

The MF3 home fair will start from August 4 to 10, 2011, 10am to 8pm at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Admission is free. Visitors will get a mini designer Verber Panton Chair in black, white, blue or red, throughout the four days (first come first served). Visitors who have registered will automatically qualify to participate in the “Visit and Win’ campaign where they will stand a chance to win an iPhone4. CitiBank credit card users who spend RM500 and above will qualify for the ‘Buy and Win’ campaign where they can win up to RM60,000 in cash, in addition to receiving double bonus points.
